yep $$$$$$$$$$$
I got a pair of rayban polarised (gold/brown not blue), and they are awesome on the water but not something you want to lose in terms of $$ :-(
I got a pair made when I was last in Shenzhen (China) from an optometrist in a shopping mall, they were a copy (Police brand) but for $60 bucks I got prescription polarised sunnies

I did get some bifocal sunnies made in bali for $60 that i wear on the boat. Not the best frames ive ever had but the lens are fine and I can afford to lose them.

Why buy named brands......rip off!

Any good optometrist can have your prescription made into high quality polarised sunnies in many different colours of tint, mirror finishes etc.  I knew an importer of several of the named brand sunnies and know what they cost wholesale.....the mark ups are literally astronomical!

spec savers

I got prescription polarised anti glare sunnies from spec savers, 2 pairs for $100 out-of-pocket.

don't give a fuck if they break (which they rarely do) but, I get a back up pair anyway. and I do it every 12 months.

Got a polarised pair very similar to "Spotters" from Glengarry Spectacles (support the little guys). Got frames on 30 June and lenses in July so all covered by health insurance.

Rip off

Got two prices in Gero yesterday for replacement multifocal lenses , 2x 4 x1 quotes $350 and Specsavers quoted $550 plus $30 to fit them, no wonder people do not deal with known retaiers. Got the last 2 pair, one clear and the other polaroid for $390 from Auspecs on the net

specs

So get your eye specs from the optometrist and then go searching online; far cheaper options out there.

most websites allow you to input your eye requirements and will sort you out form there.

like these guys: www.framesdirect.com/sunglasses/

I'm due for an upgrade and will be using the frames from my Costa Del Mar's (bought when I didn't need glasses....) and inserting prescription lenses.
