Anyone who has read my posts will realise i have the maechanical skills of Mother Teresa, so please exscuse my ignorance - BUT - i am looking at purchasing an attachment usually mounted on a tractor PTO - if i can fit it to a 4WD. The reason for this to do away with the need to either truck a tractor or road register it. I remember that years ago a Landrover? that had a PTO connection at the rear as standard perhaps. I also would need to rear mount the auger. Can anyone advise please?

The landrover pto was a bit
The landrover pto was a bit odd, it was live.
The other alternative that people use these days is hydraulic: either via a small motor, or electric.

I am not sure either. So you
I am not sure either. So you pretty much need a “rotation motion generator” to run your accessories, right? You can either get stand alone unit – imagine a electric generator but not generating electricity, but just rotation motion on the shaft. Or you can hook up power pack to your 4WD engine. If your accessory is hydraulic, which I would assume for the auger, you can have belt driven oil pump off your engine or you can get electric – hydraulic power pack running of your vehicle electric circuit. There is few options, but for this kind of arrangement, you will need few “backyard challenge ideas”. :)
