Canning bridge is about as accessible as it gets. Nice warm flats :) plenty of tailor and flatties to make a day of it. Best of all it's less than a 5 minute walk from the train station.

Canning Bridge has been my main public transport orientated fishing spot. The whole of the foreshore also fishes quite well. a short walk will have you at the narrows, which is chockas with tailor. the Burswood flats/Claisebrook cove is also very accessible by trainline aswell.

Public transport will get you

Public transport will get you access to alot of the river & coastline if your willing to go for a short walk as well. South perth, perth waters, canning bridge, narrows, jojo's & matilda bay can all be easily accessed via a train perhaps with a bus ride & a short walk thrown in. You can throw in the south mole & hillaries boat harbour for a bit of ocean fishing. Grab yourself a pushy & backpack & take that one the train. Pack your gear & a few drinks in the backpack, tie your rod to the side of the pack or bike & away you go. That would open up pretty much the entire river to you until you get your licence.

They're prime fishing times

They're prime fishing times anyway so wouldn't want the treadly on a train during those hours. Means you would have to ride all the way for an early morning fish but at least you can use the train to get home again.
