the RAT out wide

Well I got a call from Malcolm at Men on boats Friday asking me if I would like to join Andrew (commodore marine) Tim and himself for a fish out of Mindarie on board the new eight meter centre cab the Rat .Well I’m not one to knock back a trip out fishing, so the answer was yes .We meet up with Andy Mac down at the ramp and headed out in the two boats for some fishing. The Rat was an impressive boat, with a tone of fishing room front and rear, well set up for the fisherman .and the turbo diesel cruised along at between 24-30 knots didn't seem to be working at all. Jesse through Andrew some future ideas he may like to include in his next boat ,not too sure if they have the technology yet be who knows ,maybe one day we will be crossing the water in a nitro charged boat at 300knots..Jesse tried hard all day to chip the gel coat with his sinker but that glass is strong stuff. No fish were caught to speak of with a couple of dhuies and a snapper being released ,but still a great day out .In all a very large roomy fishing platform with some great features ,A top day fellers Thanks Andrew and Malcolm for the invite ,and good luck with the new boats Cheers Paul and Jesse G

what time did you head in?

We called you on the radio a few times and tried to find you but to no avail.

We ended up with some nice fish from that second patch of ground I showed you and gave the release weight a solid work out as well.

That explains it then

we kept calling with no answer as we picked up several dhuies on a new lump nearby and were going to call you over, but that was around 2-30pm.

Every lump we fished after about 12-00pm we pulled a good fish first drop and then the bite shut down immediately. Next lump same again, we ended up just hitting 10 or so lumps in a row for one or two dritfs each and managed a good feed.

Fishing blind would have been so frustrating.

How's Andrew's head is it still thumping? Wink Brave man heading out after a big night on the turps. That's dedication for you. When we met at the ramp I thought the Rat was going to have its own patented burley dispenser onboard that we hadn't previously heard about.Laughing

Didn't get a line wet. My head was pretty ordinary so I was happy to keep the breeze moving through the boat. I went to check a few spots but someone was on them already, and I went looking for a spot on the 6 mile I dived a while back from someone elses boat but didn't find it. Good to get out after the weather lately.

I put a new prop on the boat so it was a chance to test that out too.

Appreciated

Paul, Jesse and Tim, we really appreciate the company on the day out and I must say that watching Paul pull fish to the top in a slow and careful manner was appreciated when every fish swam back to the bottom when released.
It was great to see someone not skull dragging the s&#t out of the fish in order to allow release.
Thanks again for your fun and comments and next time I promise not to have such a big night out on the stout and red wine before a fishing trip.

Regards

Andrew
