Raw ally hull

Can anyone with personal experience give any advice on the care and maintenance of a raw ally finish on a plate boat ? The build on mine will be starting in the coming months and just want to know if it should be clear coated or something as it's not being painted.Any advice much appreciated!

Clear coat is a waste of money and  time. had my raw ali  4 years..an acid wash once a year and she comes up schmick. Only advice is follow the instructions for dilutions and timing.  i brought 4 l and do a 7m boat, still got shitloads left..

even better u do it at the carwash bays so any of the washed off acid/water doesn't ruin ur lawn or pavers etc.  elbow grease is needed, but worth it

Bare hull

I have a 3 year old genesis with bare Ali hull, white superstructure. Just use water to wash it. Very happy with that choice and if I build again would do the same. It does show up where the welds are a bit crap which is both good and bad. Nice to not worry about sinkers, cray pots or stone chips.

Aluminum Oxide

Aluminium actually oxidises faster than steel. The subsequent Aluminium oxide film formed over the surface prevents further oxidisation of the aluminum.
