Re: How to get the fishing mojo back - Take up carpentry - NFR Pic Heavy

Well, I have been pretty busy lately, working and doing some projects to make the house a home, I thought I might share.

1-3. Kitchen Ladder Project - Place to hang pots and pans, free up cupboard space.

4. Bathroom hanger Project - Make thing to hide marks in wall from old cistern and remount toilet roll holder.

5. Original Timber - Coffee table project.  We decided to buy a new couch and nearly died at the cost of a coffee table to match.  So I made one with the help of some borrowed and some bought tools, Jane and my fathers help. Material is Jarrah 17 x 105mmx40mm x ~1200mm kiln dried and dressed $346 from aus west timber orrong rd. Total material cost, timber, biscuits, glue, biscuit joiner, fancy router bit, sandpaper, turps, brushes, rollers, bondall monocel satin is less than $500.  I already had a circular saw, drop saw, router, planer, belt sander, mouse sander, set square, chisel, hammer, drill etc.

6. Top Cut Lengths

7. Biscuit slots cut and ready for glue

8. Biscuit Joiner - Winning !

9. Cutting Leg Slots for the tray

10. Tray and leg clamp

11-13 Top - First Varnish

14 Top - Second Coat

15-20 Coffee Table and new couch together at last.

Thanks for reading.

Not so much these days

A few years ago, Nicola Roxon decided that flavored tobacco products would entice children to smoke, something we already had about a million laws to prevent.  So they banned it.  Nowadays the shit you can buy is just flavoring and molasses, it doesnt taste the same.

Yeah that sounds about right. We tried one when in Dubai last year on a desert tour. Quite enjoyed it not being a smoker.

Bargain

Tue, 2014-08-12 08:34

You got a bargain on the biscuit joiner! I bought one (a Ryobi as well) about 12-15yrs ago when they were new technology. It still has the price on the heavy duty metal box it came in - $485. They are a handy tool to have if you are into woodwork.

Lounge looks cosy with the pot belly and jarrah table.

21yr old scotch on the rocks and a fire with the feet up.
