Ive got BFG All Terrains in 265/75/16 on my 80 series. Good tyre. Ive had BFG's on my last 3 cars. Love them.

im going from 285 75 16 (I did run that size on my old gq patrol but never had a boat  to tow around) back to 265 75 16 but have a 1998 gu non turbo td42,  and if your mainly on black top 265 75 16 is fine in my personal opinion.... over the years owning 4x4s I have found tyres the hardest thing to decide on in the way of sizes brand tread  etc... but that may just be me haha

if your considering 285 75 16 another size to consider is 255 85 16 im not 100% sure if they do a A/T in that size but worth a look

Awesome idea but 255 85 16 (they have those in a big foot) would slay my CV joints

Looking at the articulation in your profile picture, I will take your word about sticking to the 265 75 16 haha!

only downside about coopers is there price range. ur looking close to $400 a tyre.

yeh they are a lil noisy. when i got em put on they put 32 psi in em i found that quite strange as usually i run 40.

that was the so called recommended tyre pressure for sum reason.

Got 100k

Thu, 2014-08-07 14:09

Out of my mickey Thompson Atz's. I have a 100 series and was running 285/75/R16.

LIved in the pilbra for the life of the tyres, a lot of off road use and towing 7 m glass boats. Not much extra on road noise.

I was pretty critical of them as the edges of the tread seem to loose chunks as they went on, but it's easy to forget that 100k for a set of tyres is pretty good, particularly the way I treated them off road.

i have just had a new set put on. Same size but have decided to try cooper Stx this time.

I have run bfg's, bridge stones and kuhmo in the past and the mickeys have my vote. Worth the extra money.

I run the 265 75 16 BFG on

Thu, 2014-08-07 16:43

I run the 265 75 16 BFG on the 100 series. It is mainly a tow rig and for trips and holidays, never as much 4x4 as I would like. They work out to pretty much exactly the same height as whatever the tyre is they recomend on the door trim except it is thinner.

Had the Coopers on my previous car and their gaurantee after 30k km was literally worthless as were the tyres, for some reason I went again with the coopers and even doing all of their rotations and alignments they were still an average tyre. Obviously that is just my opinion.

The BFG have been on for nearly 50k km and they have just worn off the mould worms on the inside edge of the tread. A mate runs the Mickeys and he loves them, they are slightly noisier than the BFG's but not as much as you would think. He has had them for the same time I have had the BFG's and done nearly twice the km's. While you can almost watch the things wear down before your eyes with such a deep tread pattern they seem to just go and go. If I was doing mainly 4x4 I would certainly go the Mickey T's.

You really need to match the tyre to what it is mainly going to be doing.

Mickey Thompsons STZ's for me I have had them on last 4 vehicles and I'm a big fan. I have 45000 on my current set on the Navara and they still have more than 50% to go...
