Regulator 28 Build - Shrink wrapped and on the way
Well, two mates and I were having a beer at the MAAC club (JohnF, Langa and Den) discussing boats and nek minute.........
All three of us were already contemplating upgrading existing our boats, either with new engines, new electronics etc or new boats, and it appeared none of us alone could get the existing boats to what we wanted and new boats are getting rediculously expensive, so it was decided we would chip in some money each and go 1/3 in a new boat. Aim was for a no compromise fishing boat that would run hard in rough seas.
We looked at every boat out there, and being a fishing only boat, it had to be a centre console and deep V. Compromises (there are always compromises) with such a boat were a wet ride and lack of stability at rest......In the end all of us could not get past the Regulator's reputation for ride quality, with deep 24 degree V (ride quality), huge carolina flair (drier ride and mitigates risk of bow submerging on big seas), heavy stringer design (improves ride quality AND stability as a lot fo weight is below the water line)....a true blue water battleship. Front and sides clears package eases the pain with the wet ride that any centre console has.
Well, after getting over the sticker shock (it makes it easier when you have two other fools as dumb as you to share the financial load with.....) and going for a run on a Reg 23 and Reg 34 in Perth thanks to the local Regulator Dealer One Brokerage in Claremont (thanks Evan), we agreed on a 28 Regulator.
We managed to secure a gap in the production line and the boat is currently in build to our spec and should be inPerth in September. Spec of the boat is:
- 32.6 ft long overall. The Yanks like to understate length.......
- 2 x 300 hp Yammies - top speed 52 knots. Fuel burn.......dont ask, this thing will be terrible!
- 24 degree deadrise, and up to 50 degrees at the bow.
- 2 x 16 inch Garmin MFDs and B275 LHW CHIRP tranny.
A few photos of the beast in production.

It’s alll good John
They pull oil out of the ground for one reason, that’s to burn the sh*t and go fast. Hahaha
I’ll buy you guys some rubber heat shrink as a christening present for the boat. (Sinkers vs gelcoat = bad times)

Looking good
Wonder if one outboard is trimmed out more than the other. Engine cover seams don't line up so assuming it is engine trim making it look that way?
