Reminiscing

Just before the ban kicked in and i had to go back to work, i came home to a nice crispy stella 10k that the mrs bought for me as an early bday present. Eager as a kid at christmas i went out for a fish even though the easterly was howling. It was beautiful up until the FFB but not real nice after it. Arrived at the spot after having nailed a good couple of fish there the day before, and set the drift back 500m from the spot to sort the rod out. Decided big baits, big fish. 24oz sinker on and no sooner the sinker hit the bottom the line was at a 45 degree angle as the drift was a bit quick. Pulled up and changed to the 32oz sinker to try hold bottom for a little longer which seemed to work well. first drift was no bites and nothing showing on the sounder. I thought there has to be something here. Went back about 1km and tried 50m south of the mark and about 30 seconds after the sinker was on the bottom, the terez buckled. The drag wasn't set right at all and the reel screamed as soon as it hit which got me thinking snag due to the speed of the drift but then i saw head shakes, YESSSSSS first fish on the stella. got it to the top and a smile from ear to ear appeard on my face. Lifted the beast on board and screamed and shouted to myself as you do. Spiked, in the kill tank, bait thrown overboard and the rod packed away im headed in. I didn't have any scales so i stopped into complete angler and camping on dixon road and asked them to weigh it for me and got a touch under 16kg.

Love short days and the spur of the moment solo runs.

A day to remember
