compound
Paul i believe there is a cutting compound you can use with a buffer and from a mates experience it make a reasonable difference, any way Jesse is on school holidays soon, just give him the goods and promise him a trip to exy in 2010

Be careful with antifouling
Antifouling, especially the older types, is pretty toxic stuff. I would be careful to wear a quality mask if sanding it. Don't rely on a cheap dust mask.

most pros with glass boats
most pros with glass boats use a super high pressure cleaner ... when your near a big boat yard ask the blokes what it would cost to do a quick once over while she is on the trailer .... should be really cheap compaired to sanding it off with all the labour.

Yep id suggest getting the professionals
Ive found time and time again that the money saved by doing some jobs yourself is simply not worth the time or hassle...
Theyll do it quickly and properly and if they somehow damage it in the process then they have to fix it.
Defiantely worth getting a quote or two, might be cheaper than you expect.

Why remove it
Paul,I took my GW up to the Mackerels and had no problem but a couple of others had green slim starting to attach,I have also had boats in the water at Coral Bay for three weeks and the algae was a real pain in the rear end,if you have it one, leave it,it will not make the boat go any slower but may help to protect it if you go away for a week or two.BTW it is shit to work with and is very toxic ,I got some in my eye and it hurt like she ite, that was helping a m8 jersey,

To get it of is one thing
To get it of is one thing but sadly then you will need to re-spray the hull. When Anti foul is first installed the first part of the process is to sand and roughen up the hull. This is the effect you'll be left with after removing it. Oh and they normally use shot blasting to remove and i wouldn't get that done on your trailer or you'll have no galvinsing left. Best thing is to sand it back nice and thin and leave it at that..

I worked in a boat lifting yard for awhile Paul
and we always used high pressure water hoses to clean the Prawn Trawlers and Cray Boats. It was pretty easy, but I would recommend wearing crap clothes and goggles.
