Repairs for Ali hull

Hi Guys,

I have a pinhead sized hole in the hull of my Razerline - first noticed 12 months ago, and had it bogged up. Now the bog has let go.

Can someone advise me of best place to take it for getting the hole welded?

I live Safety Bay.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Judy

Same problem for my old man

Mon, 2010-02-08 12:55

Judy, I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on your post, but I thought it made more sense than stating a new one on the same topic.  My old man has a Savage with the same problem.  Several pin holes with visible corrosion/pitting around them.  It is a thin, pressed hull (2mm thick??) and he is looking for some expert advice on repairing it.  He is based near Hillaries.  Any suggestions for good people to take it too are welcome. (He is going to talk to the guys at Men on Boats).

Pinholes

My Razerline is the 2000 model - the ali plate is supposed to be 5 or 6mm thick on hull...

I understand it isn't a big job, pretty much just clean it up and give it a zap of spot weld, and grind it off.

It lets heaps of water in for such a tiny hole though, specially when you spend a whole day out there!  Cheers.

I got a quintrex fixed at

Mon, 2010-02-08 13:10

I got a quintrex fixed at marineline in landsdale - same problem, had a few holes in the bottom.

He fixed it from the inside and cost be $100 bucks I think. I had already pulled all the floor up etc for him though. Not sure about fixing from the outside?

What you do need ot think of is whats causing this, otherwise the problem will come back and back.

Marineline tend to plate

Marineline tend to plate pressed boats, but they can probably do something a little neater on a real plate boat.
