replacing your boat windscreen ?
the windscreen in my plate ali is in need of replacement it is divided into two halves at the front section , each has scratches and crows feet in places on them on the two main front panels this can ake it difficult to see through at times on the water
it appears to be made from clear Perspex approx. size for each section is 750x 600 mm
the frame is metal , with a type of rubber/plastic cornice fitted on the front side to keep them in place the top of the frame has small screws into it at about 10cm apart
if I can get the old ones out , ill take them to the local plastic guys and get them recut using the old ones as templates
im thinking getting the old ones out is removing the top screws from the frame , life the top metal frame off and pulling each old Perspex section upwards to remove it ??
anyone have experience with these ?
sorry no pics either

Windscreen
Have replaced my windscreen a couple of times now and you are on the ball with removing the screen .
It can be difficult to get the screws out as sometimes they will sheer off due to age . I found that a bit of heat from a butane torch did the trick , doesn't matter if you burn a bit of the screen as you are replacing it anyway . Also the rubbers can be replaces from clark foam and rubber. Not always an identical shape but anything that wedges into the gap between the screen and frame will do the job.

I've recently done mine also.
I've recently done mine also. I had to strip the entire frame down off of the boat (not just the top frame) as some of the other screws including the mounting ones went through the Perspex too.
For some of the screws that sheered off I just ran the grinder down the inside channel of the aluminium to clean it up. My old Perspex was 4mm thick and I could only replace them in a 4.5mm product in an exterior/marine grade. I gave my frames a freshen-up whilst they were off too.
A cool, calm head and plenty of non petroleum based lube is critical when putting them back together.

For strength use Lexan
Much stronger than standard Perspex and better resistance to solar effects

sealed marine
sick of mine getting crows feet and fading so took the old perspex panels to sealed marine windows and got toughened glass panels made, so much better but cost $500

Use Lexan
if you don't want to go to the expense of glass. Will last much, much longer than perspex and stronger.
