River prawns shortage
Submitted by scottland on Sun, 2017-09-10 12:37
After having survived the great Mulie shortage of 2016 it seems the river prawn famine of 2017 is about to begin. Was in store yesterday and they said all river Prawns are in quarantine due to a disease?

Whaaat surely not
Don't tell me we have been hit with the white spot disease. I was under the impression that WA was free from all the deceases that infected the crabs and prawns.
Can you tell me what store told you this.

I think they might be QLD prawns
Just had the thought that they might be prawns from Qld as I can't find anything referring to prawns from WA perhaps I may have jumped the gun a bit.

Its because most of the river
Its because most of the river prawns used as bait come from Qland. There is a total ban importing Prawns from there due to White Spot Disease as mentioned above. We don't want it here.
