river session

Went for a quick flick today down at the river.

was very hard to fish as i have a broken arm in a full arm plaster!!!

started off slow, hooked a massive flathead on my squid jig!!! which threw the hooks at my feet. decided to chase some bream, got two in the first couple of casts, one on a rmg scorpion in the jelly prawn colour and the other on a bevy vibe, both around the 30cm mark.

baitfish were getting smashed everywhere, and spent a while catching tailor and herring one after another.

I then jagged a couple of bait fish and put them down live, first one got absolutely hammered was taking copious amounts of line (was difficult to fight because of my arm) and just wouldn’t stop before it did me in the pylons.

then put down the other one and fed it to the fish for a while, I then set the hooks and it went on a screaming run. I eventually turned its head, and got it to the surface and went to lift it up onto the jetty and my line bloody snapped!!! estimated to be around the 45-48cm range.

had enough of being obliterated by the big bream so we headed over to the flats to target some flatties. ended up catching a couple of flatties and i even hooked another one on  my squid jig again!!!

forgot I had my camera so unfortunately got no photos.

still trying to download those photos of the 40+ cm bream i got a couple of weeks ago.

cheers,

tom
