awsome river sessions
went down to the river on tuesday to fick some lures with some of my mates. was a awsome session with bait schools every where and preditory fish smashing them everywhere.
throughout the afternoon, we had a good time catching flathead after flathead on the flats. we ended up with 18 flatties. all caught on prawn stars, bevy vibes or minnows. we also caught lots of tailor and big herring, fishing the bait schools and 3 squid and some nice bream on the flats.
I went back down that night at 9:30, and started to flick out a Smith Luna sinking minnow, and first cast hooked into a nice bream, next cast again, another bream. stayed down there only for 45 minutes and every cast on the flats with the Smith Luna was either a nice hook up or a couple of good hits by either a bream or a tailor. ended up with 13 bream and many tailor in the 45 minutes that i was down there.
next morning, I headed down there again with one of my mates at 4:30. started flicking arround the Smith Luna on the flats and was rewarded untill untill the sun came up with bream and tailor again. once the sun came up, we headed over to another location to target some flatties, I got 3 flathead and another bream and my mate got a nice squid. we then headed back to our first place and started fishing the bait balls in the deeper water, caught lots of tailor and herring, I then let my 10g twisty sink to thte bottom and then did a pretty fast retrieve back, it got hammered by somthing, i initially thought it was another herring or tailor because it was just swimming towards me, but it was staying deep, when it reached my feet, at the jetty, it was still deep and i couldn't see what it was, but it then realised that it was hooked and took of strait out towards the pylons, it took line off me as if it was nothing!!!. it eventually busted me off in the pylons.
would any one have a idea what it was????
thinking it was a sambo??
it didn't fight like a big skippy, but could have been a huge bream.
sorry, i have photos, but they are all sh!t quality.
all fish were released succesfully.
cheers, tom

I seen sambos around the 3-4kg mark around bicton when I was flattie fishing so could very well be the culprit! It's good when it all comes together like that.

Top Sessions
Nice work on heaps of Swan River fish. Maybe your mystery fish was a Giant Herring. They go pretty hard as well.
The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.
