my dad got a couple of lings at northmole years ago while fishing for skippy, that was the first time and only time i saw them, and that was in the middle of winter, cobbler all taste the same wherever you catch them
Beardie Ling (smaller version of rock ling) are pretty common in the reefs off the south west. We generally see them while getting crays as they live up in caves and cracks. Lots around ocean reef, mindarie, stragglers, eagle bay. Be pretty unlikely to get one on a line due to their habits though. The Vic guys spear the ones pictured a fair bit though.

Never seen one mate, what
Never seen one mate, what bait you get that on?
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Rock Ling
Port Melbourne measured 63cm, very similar taste to that of Perth cobblers.
Which pier was this caught at, what bait and rig.
Was it during night time?
