Rocket launcher advice needed

Hi all,

i am looking at fitting a rocket launcher to my 5m quinnie runabout. Preferably one that will blend in with the bimini or attach to it. I was looking at a kit type in tube aluminium that attaches to the existing bimini but don't know if it would be strong enough. The rod holders are plastic...mmmm. I'm limited to around $200 - $250 and would prefer to have one made up.

two questions....... does anyone out there have the kit one fitted and what are your thoughts on it? Is there anyone you can recommend who makes a stronger version for around my price range?  Okay thats three questions...

i'm down Safety Bay way...

PJ, Small tube RLs are fine if person's onboard won't use them as underway support.

Thanks DW i mainly want it to get rid of the extra rods on the deck when fishing so mainly just as a storage area when fishing or trolling. When underway i would be puttung the rods on the deck. Bimini is pretty sturdy anyway and i don't let anyone hang off it for that reason.

they arent a bad set up mate, but as colin said not something to hang alot of weight off, i personally wouldnt chuck my game outfits up on one, but normal gear no problems, a cheap alternative to a custom job

Ditto to what Mako said

PJAY, I have used both "kit type" rocket launchers and didn't have any issues using them for storage. The ones that clamp onto the bimini (Whitewater brand)are definitely sturdier than the stand alone set with two legs. I have kept the rods in them while underway with no probs but I haven't got heavy duty gamefishing gear. BIAS have them for $149 at the moment. Pic attached of our setup but not a close up. Would take a pic tomorrow for you but have taken them off to get new zip on canopy. Cheers, David

Thanks David,

does the canopy fold down with the rocket launcher? They look pretty easy to fit. Looks good and your setup is almost identical to mine.

Are they a one size fits all........and have you fitted the radio yet?

 Crikey sounds like 20 questions????

Welcome PJAY, You have to unscrew the 2 mounting screws on the bottom to enable the canopy to fold down. I only do it for long trips. They are one size fits all just have to cut/trim to suit width and required height. Hoping to fit the radio this weekend depending on weather and working out where to put the 3rd aerial (Mate gave me one of the large ones to suit the vhf).
Cheers,
David

sounds like the way to go. I was looking at the whitewater brand and it looks good enough quality for my needs and like you i don't have the heavy duty gear to break it.

don't get blown away if those 125km/h winds persist over the weekend and thanks for the advice...appreciated!
