Rod for Saragosa 8000
Submitted by bsir on Mon, 2014-06-16 19:48
Hey Guys,
Ive laid my hands on a (relatively) new Saragosa with 50ln braid on it. I will initially be using it for some beach fishing.
I was thinking id also use the reel for jigging from the boat.
Any recommendation on a jigging stick that would suit this reel, or is the reel too big for jigging?
Thanks
B

Jigging rod
Hey mate the saragosa will be fine for jigging. You could use it to jig both demersals and pelagics. It all comes down to budget your wanting to keep the rod within.
A good starting point would be the Ugly stik Bluewater jig series. Either the 15 or 24kg series would be ideal. If you want something a little nicer again then the Eupro Hardcore range has a few spin jig rods that will suit exactly what you need.
Feel free to stop past the shop and check them out.

I use that reel in my area
I use that reel in my area to jig snapper and AJs. After several different rods I settled on the Power Jigger from Jigging World. It's a parabolic rods and balances well with that reel. This setup is used only for vertical jigging from boat and has done well so far. Its a blast fighting fish in the 30lb range.
