Rotto Fishing ?

Hey Guys

Not asking for specific spots but can someone give me a bit of an idea what areas to fish around Rotto ?  We have always fished five fathom and have had hit and miss luck so thought it might be good to actually go over to Rotto to fish with the boys rather than go to Rotto for lunch with the girls.Cheers,

Cheers,

Chris

 Hi mate ,

I've found that fishing at night around rotto is twice as productive than day , I fished the reefs along the north side from  a couple of weeks back all night and got a massive mixed bag of big salmon , mulla , blk ass , pinks , dhus ,sambos . Same spots as I've fished through the day and not nearly as good.

Rotto

Hi mate, There is plenty of productive ground to be had though alot has seen alot of pressure. Be prepared to use your Sounder to its fullest. 4 hours of sounding for 1 hour of red hot action is better than one hour of sounding for 4 hours of nothingness. The south side of Rotto has plenty of lumps and bumps in the 40-50m mark. There are plenty marked on charts normally loaded onto your GPS. The large bits of structure wont typically hold lots of fish but spend time sounding the outter edges of these lumps for small 0.5-2m ledges/nuggets. The other thing to keep in mind is to prefferably not do mile long drifts. Not only will you typically not catch much but it also wastes alot of valuable sounding/fishing time. So keep your drifts short and sharp across the fish/ground.

If you need any more help feel free to drop into the shop and have a chat.

Cheers
