I think they'll get very close to the win if not take it out. if they play like they did tonight they're definitely in with a good shot
happy fishing

Ahh phuck I knew better than opening this thread I had the game on tape whilst stuck at work
Anyways Union is a close second obsession to fishing truly the game they play in heaven & would rather watch AFL than League if it boiled down further.

You Bloody Beauty
Great win by the lads, really great going into the WC. Although last night's game was an absolute cracka and a very deserved win the Tri-Nations Trophy for this year surely can't be valued as highly as in other years. South Africa didn't field their best teams for the away games and neither did New Zealand when they toured SA. The entire focus for SA seemed to be the WC. The Wallabies fielded their best team available for all four games which is great for the game, the paying fans at the games and their reputation. I played rugby for twenty years and am pretty disgusted that SA and NZ are allowed to get away with not fielding their strongest teams in a bid to protect 'valued' players for the WC. If I had paid inexcess of $100 to watch a Tri-Nations game I would expect those countries participating to be at their strongest. Lets hope that the Wallabies are now rewarded with a WC victory that can only come with the cohension that is gained by fielding the same team as often as possible. JMO.

An interesting take on the All Black loss from The Roar :
Wazza said | Today | Report comment
It’s a pity Richie didn’t come clean in his post-match interview about what was said in the huddle. I can lip-read and he said something like this:
“Not our best 80 mins, boys, but I see it like this: we gave the Wallabies just about every advantage we could – us having to fly back from Africa, them having a week off & playing at home – Heck, we even gave them a 17 point lead at half time and played a 2nd rower as a loose forward for half the game – and they still just about lost it.
“The good news is that I checked our World Cup itinerary and guess what? We’ve got all our games at home! We don’t half to fly half-way around the world before any of our games, and none of the other teams will be having a week off mid-tournament. As far as I can remember, the Wallabies under Robbie (as much as I love the man) have NEVER beaten us in NZ, in how many years?
And fellas, we’re going to peak at the right time this time – every time we’ve gone into a World Cup on some sort of winning streak we’ve come a cropper.
So, lift your head, and take in this Aussie crowd celebrating. Listen to their cheering and jeering, and watch them jump up and down. Give them their moment – it’ll be the last time they’ll get the chance to do that after playing an All Black team this year.”

All Black supporter is me! My son is a Wallaby supporter so makes life interesting in my house!
ORDER OF PREFERENCE;
My son Ryan; 1st
Fishing; 2nd
Rugby; 3rd
Plenty of ex All Blacks are mates and ex team buddies.
Must say I'm also a Richmond surporter and gee we need to start performing next year. Too many people try to compare AFL and Rugby, when what should be happening is treating the 2 codes as exactly that! 2 very different games!
GO ALL BLACKS!

Nice Sarcasm
Big rugby fan.
I hope for your country, you are right. Imagine if the All Blacks made the final (which i think they will) and fall at the final hurdle. We could have a mass evacuation to Australia or even a civil war in NZ.
Personally, i love the Wallabies and am Aussie all the way. I love the challenge of playing against the Blacks and have always respected their awsome ability and achievements. It should be a great world cup and i hope that Aus and NZ play off in the final. And yes, sarcasm, the home ground advantage is a big winner.
Here is a question: What is your personal highest achievement in rugby? Any fishing wallabies out there?
Enjoy

All Blacks will have some
All Blacks will have some tricks up their sleeve but the loss to the Wallabies in the Tri-Nations will certainly have the host nation on edge.
Wallabies played well to beat blacks in Brisbane. (My Wallaby supporter son made me say that!) Ha Ha!

Played fullback / wing metro
Played fullback / wing metro A grade from early 2000's, unfortunately no major successes for us despite some momentous wins against bigger clubs, resisted the urge to join them (until my last year, felt like a turncoat bastard) Unfortunately a dislocated shoulder doing an ill timed 'how's ya father' finished my glory days all to early. I must admit & probably the rest of you boys here is there nothing better than a well timed blind side tackle when you saw the bastard in half? Especially if they were one of ex priv school boys playing for a toff side! hehehe
Would love to put the boots back on and play country for Dunsborough here as a slow moving centre or slow moving rampaging loosie but alas work, commitments & apparently responsibility will not allow it
*sigh* my names is Lamby & I am a ruggers tragic

in our final, one of our Hookers was biting at the bit to get a run. came on with 15 minutes to go, was out on the field for no longer than 5 minutes and got red carded. There was a flanker trying to get around us, and our hooker dropped his shoulders, waited for impact and hit the flanker so hard, he flew 5 metres over the sidelines and landed at the feet of our principal haha. I have to agree Lamby, nothing better!

Apart from the position thats my story
Played for School and Perth-Bayswater, then Uni when I went there. (Turncoat). Was Lucky enough to play as breakaway and scrumhalf for WA /15, /18 (nice 6 week tour of UK) and /21.
Then bang, shoulder popped and that was that. Now a couch potato fan, but not as fanatic as I could be. Just miss playing the game and mateship that is Rugby Union.

Hi Lamby
Thought you would be out fishing today. I come from a big rugby family. Dad played first grade in sydney and also for NSW. Uncle played for NSW and was always kept out of wallabies team by his best mate Andrew Slack. Me, i was the annoying halfback. State 16's, schools ,18s and 21's. Had the opportunity of being involved in a Aussie Schools BTeam that played NZ schools. Apart from that, played at Cott and uni. Love the Wallabies and still get goose bumps when their is a game on so the world cup for me is a highlight. Had a funny moment when playing for WA schools. The English schools team was playing us here in Perth. There was this huge player for England sitting on the bench for most of the game. Ugly man he was. Name: Martin Johnson (English Captain) now coach. Funny how some go on to make a living form it and others don't.
Enjoy
Dave

Hahaha there was always some
Hahaha there was always some bloke chomping at the bit Leemo, always taught you must kill them in the first up tackle but make it legal! Nothing better than a cut out pass coming up high to your opposite number, will never forget when Brian Lima knocked Hougard into next week in RWC 03 lol that was my benchmark!
Wish I was fishing Dave but I am on call this arvo so will be in at work but such a day to be out there, will look forward to the boys report! Also nice ruggers pedigree in the family there mate bloody hard luck to be kept out by a Wallabies capt. No mean feat to get state honours for NSW also, despite an accurate boot I never got a sniff here in WA which is ages behind NSW & QLD. Ever play 7's? something I quite enjoyed but would probably have a myocardial if I played it now!
Lets hope our piggies can go injury free & put the yards in for the RWC as I like the backline form right now

The chiropractor is my favorite player!
I have to admit im a bit of a wannabee. I played quite a few games of 'mugbe' in school days and actually broke both ankles during separate games. I have never played union, but played a few years of touch rugby in my 20's. I never really was a team game player and stopped playing organised sports when I was nine years old when I had a gutful of cricket, football and teeball. A decision that lead to me playing guitar more than chasing a ball around. Left me more time for fishing too with my weekends and weeknights free of training:)
Anyway, long time Force and Wallabies supporter.
I remember Brian Lima playing in the N Hemisphere v S Hemisphere 2004 Tsunami support match sometime in 05. He hit his opposite number three times clean out of frame during the match:D
