Run-off Barra - February??

There are various events that drive fish to feed and for Barramundi in the Northern Territory one of those events is when the flood plains start to recede and river levels start to drop. In the NT they call this the run-off which normally happens around March/April or each year. Well, this year things are little different and there hasn't been much rain so far. In fact, it almost feels like the wet is over as we've had bugger all rain in February - traditionally the wettest month!!

One of the guys in our fishing group was watching the Daly River's levels and when they looked like they were dropping, we headed out there to check things out.

Here's a video of that trip.

Couldn’t watch the vid just yet but I know how dry it’s been this year in the west. I’m in hedland and we’ve had 39mm this year. No run off here, not even puddles. Look forward to watching the vid for some good barra action. Mike

We were going to have a couple of cyclones already In Broome but it would be to early to call now but some more rain would be great but plenty of big fish are getting caught out of the fitzroy

Meeuwissen, Glad you guys are doing alright on the Fitzroy. I think we've been affect by the west coast cyclones that suck all the water away. Apparently the fish are coming on the chew at Shady Camp but I'm off to Adealide this weekend so I'll miss out!
