Salmon and Tailor
Went out with the goatlobster before the storm blew up, plan was to catch and release some tailor off the reefs then hopefully find some salmon lurking around.
The tailor spot was going bonkers, we pulled fish ranging from 47-52cms every cast on plugs and stickbaits. You could see the tailor schooling in 1ft of water so it was easy pickings.
Played around with them for about half an hour before deciding to get serious and find these metro salmon.
First cast at the next spot was met by a solid hookup on stickbait for the goat and then the water erupted behind my plug with salmon absolutely going bazerk. Had a ball for a couple hours catching one after another on stickbaits, poppers and minnows.
Whenever we lost sight of the fish we'd throw the lures out the back and troll and we'd find them pretty quickly again.
Hoping to do it all again when the weather clears. What usually happens with the metro salmon after a big blow, do they push out further offshore or will they still be hanging around in close? My first year targetting them offshore so not sure what to expect after this shitty weather.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Haha nah this was from earlier in the week lol. The first and third pic took quite a bit of editing to end up how it is. I dont usually like editing so much that you can clearly tell the photo has been changed a heap but i think it looks cool. I'll dig up the originals and show you guys.

Do you use singles or trebles
Do you use singles or trebles on your lures?
I'm planning to give it a crack soon, was thinking trying around some of the reefy areas around Garden Island.

I use singles with crushed
I use singles with crushed barbs myself, I dont keep many fish so try cause least damage as possible. Last thing you wanna be doing is piss farting around trying to get trebbles out of a fish or a net while you got a hot bite

I know u were offshore but I can see the land about 100 meters behind you beau. What was that beach called. U must have been in close if the tailor were only in 1ft of water
