Salmon schools

Hi everyone, I know prime salmon time is about half a year away still but I want to be ready to go when it comes. My question is how do you find schools of salmon? Do you drive on coastal roads from perth to south until you see one? Is there any tricks to finding them?

go to any beach around
go to any beach around pemberton around 1st term school holidays or the long weekend during 1st term, Yallingup beacj is good. You cant see em but just cast out and wait. Head around to windy harbour if you want to cast lures out to see em. Theres no roads really where you can drive along and see the schools, you have to be on the beach.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

Spotting
One thing to remember when trying to pick between a reef and a school is that the shadow of the school will rise as a wave passes and a reef will remain or fade slightly
Once you have seen plenty it becomes second nature but recognising the first one is difficult if you haven't seen one before

Go to the Albany area, fairly easy to spot the schools on a calmish day.

Between the Capes
A lot of the beaches between Cape Leuwin and Cape Nat are accessed by going over the dune system or rocks and down on to the beaches. Before you head down have a good look from up top. Binoculars and polaroid sunnies will increase what you see out in the water. Sometimes the birds will be active around the schools. If they are to far out to cast to, dolphins are handy, they will round the schools up and herd them closer to shore, a lot of fish will break from the school and hug the shore if the dolphins are smashing them.

There were tonnes around. It's just a matter of being there at the right time.
