Saturday afternoon Tailor at The Cut

Had a good couple of hours at the Cut on Saturday arvo. Beautiful conditions, bit of chop and a nice but not too stiff SW.

Plenty of tailor around. All were size, though not overly large. A good size salmon trout was landed too. The blowies were out in force, heaps of the bastards everywhere.

Didn't see any skippy though.

All up we had 10 tailor and a salmon trout. All were released.

Cheers.

Northern side.

Didn't have a tape measure or anything 'cos it was purely catch and release, but I'd say the biggest was around 35-36cm.

Sounds like there was plenty of action. I wish someone would invent something that would get rid of the blowies.

We arrived around 530pm and fished until we ran out of bait around 8pm, not long after it was dark.

We caught two within the first 15 minutes and then it went quiet until just before 7pm when there were plenty of bites and fish around.

There certainly is a balancing act when fishing at the Cut, need to get yer bait in the right areas, but this means you will inevitably get a few blowies. :)

Only 3 tailor caught today. Was a bit still, sticky as F*** and so many flies it was just about unbearable.

South end? or North end?

Did you go all the way to the end of the rocks where you can drive to or where the rocks end into the surf to the left?

Any luck on lures or just bait and burley?

Both sides of the cut, we tend to have a look when we get there and decide where to fish. We sometimes move around a bit.

Just using mulies, but if they're biting and we've landed a few I'll chuck on a lure.

Good session again today.

Sun, 2010-01-03 10:35

Good session again today. Plenty of choppers around. Beautiful conditions too.

8 choppers landed in 2 hours. All went back. Nothing overly large, few were undersize.

Plenty of people fishing, much more than usual - including some arseholes 20 meters from us on the northern side taking undersize choppers and skippy.

Bloke in a Reece company shirt, you're a disgrace and so are yer mates. Gave you the stinkeye several times and you knew why, but you still kept them.

Sun, 2010-01-03 11:14

(1) Ring the Fishwatch number #1800 815 507, even if they dont come out they will log it for future patrols!

(2) Tell him, GFY ha ha =)

Good to see the spot still firing mate, give us a call if ya heading down again and we'll catch up!
