Saturday fishing

Well it has been a very long time since I have put tub in and had a bottom bash of Perth waters. April 2007 to be exact so with the good weather forecast and a day off on a weekend for once I put it to the old man to see if he was keen to have a bash.

Last time with the old man we went out 20mile did two drifts, bagged out on dhuies each and then looked at each other, laughed and turned for home. No point continuing fishing when you have your limit on dhuies I reakon. So the pressure was on and dad let me know that he expected dhuies...

Anyway I decided to hunt for new ground first up and found a nice lump in 40m with fish showing, a couple of mock drifts to get the current and wind drift sorted and then we went right over the top to see the old mans rod load up and start taking line. 5 minutes later and this lovely little guy of 12kg surfaced.

After this came up we really didnt care what we caught so went exploring some more. Found some more ground and missed some good bites and then hit the gold. First drift and the old man missed a nice hit of what was expected to be a baldie as this spot gets big numbers of them while up came this nice dhu for me.

Next drift was to be our last as we had enough fish and once again they were on as soon as the bait hit the bottom, I got another dhu of about 65cm and the old man snuck two drops in and was rewarded with a baldie and a breaksea. So after that we left them well and truly on fire which is a good feeling.

All up the weather actually wasnt the best and there was a screaming current running from the north but we had a great time and was a good trip out.

Haha - well wouldnt go that

Tue, 2009-08-04 17:25

Haha - well wouldnt go that far Sam but was a nice little mission indeed.

Suppose when I have given my spots a 2 and a half year breather they should produce. Is one insane piece of ground that one but really only produces baldies and dhuies in numbers - bummer hey.

Hmmm Exmouth - counting down the days

Nice work you did better

Nice work

you did better than we did

Spent the day in the 35's to 45's for 3 parts of stuff all.

Got a nice KG to 60cms and lost 2 of what i thought were snapper, 1 was to a shark.

Man i have hit a dry spell in the fishing department...... many spots i had are very very quiet, and the new ones ive found are showing fish, but not real interested.

Bummer,

Yeah we had a lot of fish showing on the sounder all day and were pretty tentative to bite at mose spots but a couple as shown were firing. Others were mainly a few good bites, couple of small fish then shutdown

The Eagles won't be holding a trophy up for awhile, so a dhuie is the next best thing! Great pic Gully.

Top day on the water for sure.

Cheers Pete, oh yeah, Go the Eagles!
