Saturday's Small Banquet
Managed to put together a little banquet for myself on Saturday morning.
Hit the ramp in the dark and headed up the West side of garden island, sounded around for some activity and ended up putting the pick in at about 5:30 in 9m of water.
Got the burley working hard as only gave myself an hour to fish, had one rod plastic and one rod bait.
Had a couple of pickers playing with the bait early on but then as soon as the sun came over the island and touched the water (no joke could have set an alarm for it) the bite was on!
First run as the first bit of light hit the water was a 58cm pinkie on the bait, perfect.
Next run was on the plastic, went hard but either pulled the hook or didnt set right so nothing to show.
Next two runs were on the bait again, a baby pink probably only 20cm, the next just under at 48cm but he was lucky to make it with a 2.5m tiger right on his tail!
The shark peeled off at the back of the boat as the fish was lifted in, beautiful thing, wish I got a photo of it.
The next and final hook up must have been a decent sized ray, could not get it to turn its head and was just cruising along holding the bottom, busted the hook off and called it with 10 minutes to spare to my 6:30 deadline.
From there cruised up into Herring bay, grabbed a mooring as far South as I could in the bay and geared up to go and chase some Abalone.
Managed to get in the water at 7am on the dot, headed to the rocky outcrop at the South end of Herring bay and spent the hour on the hunt there, couldn't bloody find them haha.
Managed to find two very good sized Abs all on their lonesome (100mm shells) but other than that was slim pickings! Oh well thats what you get for trying somewhere new haha.
Back to the boat and a bit of a chill and swim, put the drone up for a bit of fun since the conditions were just so good then headed back down to Rockingham.
Stopped on the weed just before the ramp at Point Peron and managed to pick up 3 squid on a drift too, back at the ramp before 10am.
Not a huge bag in the end with the single pinkie, 2 Abs and 3 squid but a nice little bit of variety and was such a great day on the water.
Thanks for reading :)

Love the drone shot, mate!
I can help you with an Abalone spot down the back of the island if you are that keen. I dont eat them but fell off a sup board into ankle deep water and noticed billions of them...

Nah mate I was laying paving in the lovely weather. Would've been an amazing day for it. The saving grace for me was a few mates went out on the yaks and had a tough day. I would've cried if they done well.
