Saw Tooth

Currently at Telegraph pool (Second Night)
Fished pretty well all day trying to catch a Barra, but with the water temp 19 to 21 deg c
it has been a hard slog..
I threw out a live bait at dusk and ended up with this Saw Tooth.. You don't catch one of these every day..
Released without harm..

Yeah it was quite a suprise
Those teeth are razor sharp aswell.. Awesome looking creature.

Yeh caught a few up that way, they can certainly put a hurt on ya. Very endangered and protected too fitz is one of the very few breeding grounds!

We did throw a few lures aswell, but today I will try a bit of trolling and put a spread of 3 different lures out?? Fingers Crossed..

Wouldnt call it a hard fight
but plenty of thrashing around in the water and on land..
Would hate to get a smack in the leg from those teeth as they are razor sharp ah..

just wondering... by the pic it looks to be 2.5m to 3m from tip to tail. would that be bout right?

i caught one in a creek at port hedland a few yrs back, they were not that uncommon to catch but in saying that i only saw one other caught in 3 yrs

Naturaliste
I got one about 9 foot plus bill off Cape Naturaliste while pro fishing about 10 yrs back, sadly it couldn't be released but called Fisheries Shark Research and they sent down one of their blokes to takes measurements, samples etc for their research. They said that they have been caught as far south as Spencer's Gulf in South Oz.
