Nice work there, been a long time between SBTs for me!

Good to see you bled them but try the under the pec slash and the braind spike, it works really well on tuna!

Behind the pec fin, slash

Sun, 2011-11-20 21:09

Behind the pec fin, slash them down, not heaps deep, but when you cut these ones up you will see where the blood runs, on fish that size, its maybe 1cm deep?

To brain them, hold them upright, and run the back of a knife down their forehead and you will see a white 0 come u. Thats the forward entry to the spine, so just give that a going-over with a spike.

The japs used to put a bit of piano wire down that, all the way down the spine to the tail, it shorts out the nerves. These days they use a bit of mono and they leave it in there. It proves that they did it, and no cross-contamination seeing as they use fresh line every time.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Good work mate, we got one

Mon, 2011-11-21 08:55

Good work mate, we got one lone ranger out there yesterday in around 85m - but didnt see any signs that they were there (no bustups etc)

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

luck??

Tue, 2011-11-22 08:09

we caught 2 stripeys earlier as we were centred to the island so we were full of expectation as we continued west, all those caught on the 2m diver

when we were smashed all lures were taken, 1m 2m and 6m.  no birds just the instincts of the skipper!!

as you can see from the messge below i have been trained up by groovepants.  Been out with him and caught tuna without birds or bait schools so i just workled the same ground and it paid off.

Well you proved me wrong...

Mon, 2011-11-21 13:05

... I didn't think the weather would be that good and I definately didn't think it would be good enough to get your boat out to Rotto.

Spewing I didn't come along now.

Glad to see you have broken your boats Tuna drought.

Next decent day we're off to the FADS and trolling for something bigger ;)

I've still gotta get you out to the Barges.
