Hi Scotto - what we ususally
Hi Scotto - what we ususally do in this case is put a bag of frozen mulies on either side of the joint for 10 minutes (or put the whole lot in the bait freezer if it fits!) and then ease it apart. Try a bag of frozen peas on either side of the joint at home and you should be able to get it apart.

We always used to rub the male ferrule on the outside of your nose prior to connecting the two pieces. The natural oils in the skin would act as a lubricant. That worked with the old fashioned metal ferrules anyway.

Sea-Kem - I came across some Graphite Powder in Bunnings a couple of days back if that helps. I think they use it as a dry lube for door locks etc.

If you can't find graphite.
If you can't find graphite. Just use pencile shavings as that's graphite.

I feel for you
I had the same problem... But with a severne 460 100% carbon windsurfer mast. Try seperating a 4.6m mast. We tried two guys grunting n swearing... No luck . Two booms on the seperate mast pieces to try n twist apart. Ended up cracking the mast... Soo out came the Dremel and we eventually got em apart. Mast was totally rooted in the long run . Took it back to the supplier ( west oz company) they laughed and gave me a brand new mast no questions asked... Made a quick trip to bottle store for a carton of thanks for the boys... Now that's customer service for you... New mast works a treat
My wife understands why I clean my rods n reels in the shower....

Already been said, but
Already been said, but ice/freezing works every time that I've seen.
To avoid it happening, I use a ferrule wax. I use the Smith stuff but I'm sure there are others. Nose oil probably works just as good, but I've been using the wax for 5 years or so now and never had a stuck rod since, even after week plus long expedition trips where the rods don't get broken down during that time.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
