Anyway to find the serial number on this old motor

On the transom bracket,maybe
On the transom bracket,maybe painted over or sticker has come off. Check your license papers,if boat has a HIN then it should have engine details on papers

Has a hin will have to wait for the new rego.papers just transferred online.
