A serious bit of equipment
Submitted by Grooveepants on Thu, 2011-12-01 11:16
This just arrived for my Lowrance HDS-10. I needed something to mount the unit on so it would clear my dials on the dash.
It's one serious bit of kit and now I can position my sounder an infinite number of ways.

Fantastic
That would have to be one of the best and most sensible pieces of equipment that I have seen on a boats dashboard.
So now it's question time.
Where did you get it and how much did it set you back ?
I WANT ONE !
Cheers

When tightened
I can't budge the thing. I don't think I'll have any issues with it being strong enough. Did you get the one that RAM Mount recommended for your sounder?

Hope it works well for you.
Hope it works well for you.
We use RAM mounts for all of our survey gear, and it can be a PITA with the balls slipping.
And that's just for pole-mounted hardware and in-vehicle stuff, which doesn't cop the jarring of a boat.
If you find it does slip, a bit of belt-grip on the rubber ball helps a fair bit (you'll find it in Auto shops for fan belts etc)

another option is a johnny ray mount ive got one on my hds 10 i feel its better for me because i can turn the head unit around with out undoing any thing and also has quick relese so i can take the sounder out of the boat without undoing any screws was about $60
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

They are a good bit of kit
They are a good bit of kit but no good for mounting on a vertical surface.
