shade sail posts

hi all,
I'm just putting up a shade sail in the backyard. I have to put a couple of posts up to hook the sail on. Does anyone know what post size is best to use? I was thinking of using 90x90mm pation tubing, or perhaps 100x100mm?
Also - does anyone know the cheapest place to get patio tubing from?
cheers

Hi
If you are going to be hanging the sail from the post I would not be using Patio tube. The gauge is far to light. From memory it is only 1.2mm thick. Most places would recommend SHS 100x100 post around 4mm thick. I know it seems heavy duty but you would be surprised by the amount of force exerted by the wind on the surface of a sail. I have seen brick walls brought down by a shade sail.
Midalia steel sells it in 4m and 8m lengths. If you google "shade sail posts" you will see lots of good info.
Cheers
Brad

the cheaper option is the pine 90 by 90
bunnings about 3.6 m lenghth less than $100 each.
I have attached two shade sails this way. no problem. next tip is they need to lean diagonally away from the way they will be pulled in (about 20 degrees recommended). Really is easy job.
metal super heavy and quite expensive.
