Shark Attack at Coral Bay???

Just heard briefly on the news that there was a shark attack at Coral Bay. I heard a 24 year old man was bitten on the arm and is in a stable condition. Is this true? Was it at Coral Bay???

If i remember correctly, what the article doesn't say is when she was attacked they were also gutting/cleaning their catch in shallow water.

Many years ago up there, seen a freediving spearfisherman come back to camp missing most of a fin, claims a bronzie got a bit excited as he was getting back to the boat!

Just to clear some things up.

Fri, 2012-01-20 13:24

It was a tiger because he saw it. But it may not of been 3m.

He is a fairly experienced diver/spearfisher so he would know.

It was at the lagoon about 20km north of town. And he was a fair bit off shore at the time.

Several big stripeys had been spotted by the plane in that area the day.

He may seem ok on TV but it did make a bit of a mess of his arm.

He was running a quad bike tour at the time.

There are heaps of sharks up here in close at the moment after the turtles.

Just wanted to clear some things up because on other sites some people are saying things like it was a wobby ect.

Typical of the media,  they

Typical of the media,  they over dramatise things,  and everyone who wasnt there,  they all think they know it all.     Dave was operated on for 9 hours yesterday,  will be a long time before he will know if he has complete use of his arm and fingers.      Ive seen photos of is arm,  not a pretty sight,  very lucky man.     All the best Dave for a speedy recovery.      I understand one of the tourists with Dave was a nurse who did a good job,  also to  the nurse at the Coral bay Nursing Post and ambulance volunteers and RFDS  well done guys.
