Tough time of year for the bay with the south westers. You'd either want to plan it and get lucky or watch the weather and make the decision to go and do it spur of the moment type of thing.

Hey Adam you may have an idea
If you go to shark bay and catch say a snapper. When you come back across the line into the ban zone and if you got your car searched by fisheries. You in theory are breaking the law for that zone by having that fish in your possession. Is that the case?If so a lot of people could be in strife without even knowing it. Sorry for the small threadjacking.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Not sure mate. But for example, if we catch crays above the 'off season' cray zone (22nd parrallel I think? Bottom of the south tip of the north murion island or close enough to) and can prove that we have caught them in a legal area (gps tracks etc), then fisheries have to prove that we were in the wrong and caught them illegally. (I'd have to double check this when the missus gets home, but thats how it stands as far as I know)
As for the southern areas, really not sure mate, been a long time since I've had to worry about that problem. :)

i would presume
i would presume that receipts from accommodation or fuel dockets or anything along that line should be enough to prove your location as long as its for more than 1 day

i read the regs on the cockburn sound closure and if you catch a pinky outside the sound and travell through the sound they cant do you for it, could be a different story with the demersal ban but i think even a fuel receipt would do the trick, i reckon u will be ok... possibly

i read it as
being different Each of the four biological regions (bioregions) in WA has its own suite of fishing rules, although some rules such as possession limits and legal sizes may apply Statewide. If you transport fish across a regional boundary, the rules that apply are those which relate to the bioregion in which you are checked by a Fisheries and Marine Officer – not the bioregion in which you caught the fish.

So in short i take it as being
if you are not allowed to take demersals in the west coast zone and you are searched in this zone then you cop the punishment.Adam i would say it would apply to the crays in Exxy as well if they enforced the letter of the law.

That Poor Boat
Hey Russ,
Sounds like you want to tow that boat all over Western Australia.
I would be good for Feb/March or March/Apr 2011
Cheers
