Shark Fishing up north

I have heard a rumour that a few boats are heading up to Carnarvon/Shark Bay specifically for shark fishing....
Does anyone know if this is the case or not?
Personally... I'm stoked as I havent been able to land a fish the last 4 trips out!!! Getting VERY expensive!!!
No fillets... 2 broken rods, god knows how much tackle/lures/jigs gone the way of the noahs!!!
Im not sure how bad they are further south in the bay, but out from Carnarvon..... geeeez!!!

I went to Shark bay about 5
I went to Shark bay about 5 weeks ago and gotta agree that the Sharks are plentiful, pulled atleast 25 sharks over
3 days just fishing in the gulfs. Mostly reef and whalers, good fun though for us metro boys as they pull pretty
hard. Took a couple of smaller sharks, cut their head and fins off and gutted them then soaked them for a day
in milk but still had a very slight ammonia taste to them.
Actually heading up next Thursday with the Kids and missus for four days but hopeing
for anything but sharks.
Do they fish commercially for sharks up that way or has it been banned?

Havent heard anything
I was down the snapper jetty a couple of days back helping the boys unload but not a mention from any of the pros about shark fishermen coming up.
They will have to change a few laws as its a declared shark sanctuary from Steep point through to NW cape for the pros as far as I know. Be interesting to see what they do with them as with the warmer waters the ammonia is a lot more noticable than down south and the thickskins [sandbar whalers] are a lot bigger and therefore tougher to eat.
Mate took a run over to the Muck hole last Friday, left at 0300 1.5 hours to get there, got a big spanglie and a nice cobia then lost the next 6 hours of fish to sharks, arriving back at 1700. He reckoned he must have lost at least 100 hooks, sinkers etc, didn't matter where they went as soon as they hooked up they were bitten off.
