Seems like a good idea but I wouldnt wear it on wet surfaces. They also make your feet sweat heaps and end stinking it out. I look at proper sandals that are designed to be quick dry, non-marking sole that can provide grip on wet surfaces and insoles that dont stink out.
Check out Keen's range of shoes.
Ive got the Newport H2 sandals and Targhee II shoes.
Not cheap but incredibly comfortable and hell grippy shoes on wet surfaces.
I have a pair of these (though they're falling apart now, but more than a year old). The rubber inserts can slip though. Might make sense to glue them down or something perhaps (I just used them without the inserts after a while). I quite like them. Comfy more like a sneaker. I dont really like crocs which were another option or sandles (neither are really comfortable for me). Plus unlike those two, then enclose the whole foot so you dont need to worry sunburn poking through the holes in your shoes.
I havent had much of a problem with them slipping though, including on wet decks. I guess bare smooth fibreglass and water might not work well, but I dont remember ever having slipped in them (except when the floor covering slipped, but thats not the shoes fault).
Can use them wading too (though I now have some harder soled slip one ones). Just leave them outside when they do get wet though to aerate (and dont leave them in your car!)
true honsu with your comment on stink, I have a pair of ACS which look and feel great, they dont slip as the boat I have has carpet floors and hey arnt too bad wet, nice and cool but they do stink! oh well... bait smell and foot smell lol
lol....nowadays with the Keen's only my feet smell!! Not the shoes as well. Coz I regularly keep them in the car as well, so dont want to stink out the car anymore!!!!
