Smartcraft gauges

G'day, does anyone have smartcraft gauges on their boat? Is the litres used accurate? I took my boat out for the first time on Sunday and the fuel used on the tripmeter is way different to what's left in the tank. Bit worrying when the fuel level gauge says 70 litres used but tripmeter says 37 used!

Yeh mate I have them, they
Yeh mate I have them, they are spot on for me. Maybe they need to be calibrated. Download the manual off the net I think it says how from memory. Over about 150 litres mines accurate to about 2 litres.

yep
accurate. as said, you probabl need to calibrate the gauge. there are 3 different ways to do it. The best is when you are filling it and you calibrate the gauge every 1/4 of a tank.
Ive got the manual if you need it....

When I fueled the boat up
When I fueled the boat up for the first time with the new tank, I done it in 25L increments and noted down the digital % level off the gauge. Started off with 250L (70% on gauge), spent a few hours out on the water with the gauge saying I'd burnt 37.3L. Theoretically should have 213L (60% on gauge) left, but it reads 49% which is 175L. Fuel level is always checked with the trailer at the same level so it can't be that. Will have a look through the smartcraft manual and see what that reckons. Good to hear it will be accurate once I find whatever the issue is! Gotta be happy with 2L over 150L accuracy!

I replaced an old Optimax
I replaced an old Optimax that had done 1500hrs with one that had done 19hrs. Changed the smart gauges over as well. I have tried recalibrating the tank several times but have had not luck. I just use the fuel used on the gauge which is reasonable accurate. Just got to remember to reset it after filling up.
