Snapped part of skeg on outboard 60 hp 4 stroke

 Hey all,

Snapped a part of my skeg this morning. The boat still drives and steers 100 percent and runs fine. I did about a 30 km jourmey after snapping it does anyone have any advice on if i should get a new bit welded on or good to leave it as is.

Thanks in advance

...but the next thing you hit will wipe your prop out. Possibly more expensive than fixing the skeg. Your prop doesn't appear to be stainless...guessing it's painted ali?...but if it IS stainless, hitting something will most likely damage your gearbox; lots more $.

Mate that's how I bought my boat, 70hp evinrude.

Had it 3 years this year with no dramas, have thought about getting it fixed but I haven't had any issue with it this far.

I did this on first day in a 3 day trip at the Abrolhos in Feb this year, got a little too close in the shallows  it didnt effect my steering at all but i was concerned about next hit might damage prop / prop shaft even though it was stainless steel. I took it up the guys at Jetpower in Wangara and they repaired it, just had a new section welded on and reprayed and you cant even tell it was repaired, good as new
