Has anyone caught any soapies in the swan recently or does anyone target them. I wouldnt mind targeting them on light gear if I know theyre around.

I've tried for some Mulloway
I've tried for some Mulloway a couple of times in the last week or so in the lower reaches but havn't had any joy, just a couple of rays. I am targeting the larger fish with large live baits & fillets but the soapies should come into the river at the same time as the bigger fish. People I've spoken to have been trying but also no luck yet. There are people that do target soapies on lighter gear, often with soft plastics or flies but I'm not one of them so I can't offer you any tips I'm afraid.

Woah somebody replied, yeh I
Woah somebody replied, yeh I targeted big mullas a month or so ago at WAMM seen a few landed, but i will begin targeting them again in some other river locations, Id just like to get a nice soapie of a couple kgs on light gear, bit more of a challenge than bream of flatties. I fished a new spot last sunday morn and seen plenty of 'spot fires' with bait fish being chased by something in the shallows. A nearby boat fisher flickin plastics suggested that there were soapies in the spot I was fishin recently when there was some weed in the shallows of this little bay. just gota find the time to target them like any fishing, and I think the mullas are more of a night hunter so thatd be a start. I will be fishin the spot I was at when the tide and weather is right one night, deep water accessable from the shore and a comfortable illuminated jetty, cant wait, put a big bait out deep and flick around or use smaller bait for a juvie and sink a couple at the same time

i got a soapie in the swan
i got a soapie in the swan about 50cms just last week. the fight was not as impressive. Bream at 1.5kgs fight harder... but was still happy to get it as a by catch :)

the old sugar mill across
the old sugar mill across from blackwall reach is my fav spot for hookn up, look for a private jetty, good size jetty and try either side up to 100mtrs or so :) ive lost some crackers on bream gear not long ago....they hug the shore line....
Catchn dhuies off the smell of an oily rag :)
