The rebate isn't the whole story. You need to work out how much lower your used kwh's were which picks up the extra generated power you used. Only the excess power is exported at the low rate.
Our last bill which was the first full bill since having panels installed dropped by around 70%. Now regretting not installing them earlier
Mine are working great. Gone from an $800 down to a $350 bill. Got a 3kilowatt system from China and has been on there for the last three or four years.
yep you just have to work with it.
We run pool pump during the day and program the washing machine and dishwasher to stagger their cycles to maximize useage during peak generation.
Not hard and works well
you will do all right Peter. At 2.2kW and being retired and around home a biti trough the day , your stystem will pay for its self in a few years. Then like all good investments it will keep paying you for a decade more.
And remember as the privatisation of electricity marches on "we need to put prices up to increase completion" , so buckle in for continued above inflation electricity price rises for ever.
Newtons fouth rule - once solar is installed (especially with the feed in tariffs ) man will always wish he had put more panels up. Now there is no feed in tarrif my calculations show the fastest return on equity is spend as little as possible, which seems to be around the $2,000 region.
And we both work but leave the ac on in hot weather to keep the wine cool our bills have dropped by more than half but like others we programme dishwasher and washing machine to run during the day.
remember to keep the panels clean as it impacts on power generation by almost half a kW dirty versus clean
Any feedback on systems/installers ( positive or negative)would be appreciated. Am looking at around 4Kw system.my bills around $450 plus every 2 months and growing.
There are a lot of companies selling cheap Chinese equipment. If you want a decent system that will last, buy quality equipment and get it installed by a good company.
Infinite Energy and Solargain are both good companys to deal with. Not the cheapest but they provide good equipment and quality installs.
We used A Womans Spark as well Eric.
Found them really good to deal with and the installers did a great job.
We got 24 panels which is 6kw of panels with 2 x 2.5kw inverters.
We have had our PV system up and running now for 4 years and in that time have not had a bill to pay. Been in credit the whole time. I would recommend installing at least a 5kw system if you want to run your a/c for lengthy periods too.
My system is in the carport so i hit the button a lot to make sure they are working over 10.000 units in 4 yearswe get small bill's still. Go to BangGood web site for LED lights $3.45 each downlights and normal globes in LED as well.
I had 20 panels installed and 2 x 5 kW inverters through Green wiring after rebat cost 6k my bills used to be any ware from $1200 to $1700 now I have had them between $350 to $700 each bill so it's been a Awsome saving to me

Installed 6.25kw of panels in October and changed the 12v halogen down lights to LED.
Usual bill pre solar was around 350 to 450 every 2 months. Last bill was $35 of which about $25 is service charge.
Have a look here for some info

Cut my bill in half as well
We have a 3KW system and like others, it has cut our bill in half using as much in the day as possible.
System was installed by A womans spark and I was very happy with their service
