consider one leaf springs as
consider one leaf springs as an option although if travelling over rough terrain multi leaf can be better if one leaf cracks...personel preferance...agree jack it up...even put some axle stands under the sub frame...don't go to the extra hassel of unloading your boat...have fun...

if you only do city work i
if you only do city work i would go the parabolics(single leaf) no rust inbetween then, just make sure you get them to suit your total weight.
go over if you have to, not under, there is always extra gear you chuck in your boat.
it hard to tell from the pick,
but this is only if they are slipper springs!! double eye springs you will have to stay with leaf, but i think you can still get them in galv.
remember which side of the spring the axle is on!!
if you can get it high enough with wheels off, pull the assembly out compleat, then just cut the ubolts with a grinder(alot easier to get to), they are prob rusty anyway.
give the axel a good wire brush and recoat with cold galv or a good rust inhibitor.
it easy work mate, just time consuming.
good luck

Can be done as said above
Can be done as said above with the boat on but it is MUCH easier to be able to get at all sides, Id prefer it off myself just cause of getting at rusty bolts etc.
It is really easy to get it off onto tyres and back on again, so long as your eye on the stem is reasonably strong.

On the lawn
dump the boat on the lawn.
Ive done it with one of my old boats. Just push the boat of the back and then pull the trailer out from under it.
When you want the boat back on, break the trailers back and winch the trailer under the boat. Dont have the trailer hooked up to the car.
Easy to do.
cheers

1980's
Gosh it might be around 1980 something, the motor is a 55hp tohatsu. It is a guardian good boat.. But I am not sure if is the motor or me but it goes very slow until I have the throttle over half way then goes quite fast.
I thought it was cause it is a 2 stroke, that they done like going slow?

On the lawn
Use say put it on the lawn, I find it hard enough to push it off when I am at a boat ramp. It has these things on the side that aren't rollers and seems hard to move it off the trailer. And yes I do break the trailer..

dont break the back
it will roll off too quick should be ok getting back on though also place a couple of tyres either side under
the back and under the keel with two at the front to lift it up when retreiving

New springs fitted
All sorted ended up leaving the boat on the trailer, those old springs are a bastard when they are fully rusted.. Than god for angle grinders

give the under neath a polish
A real good one! If you got any sparks on the gel coat.. That's red hot steel hitting ur boat which'll rust real quick. looks like a nice hull. Be a pity if it goes red polkadots underneath . after u poloish put a good wax on it too

no problems
managed to keep sparks from the hull, looks good when it is polished.
have a question about 2 strokes, i have to have the thtrottle over half way to get any power. it does not like going slow, is this normal?
