Hi everyone, I’m needing some help I’m newish to sounders, I have a fair idea of how to use one but I’d like some help so I can stop second guessing myself. Would anyone have any photos of what coral bottom looks like on a colour sounder? I’m wanting to set a couple of cray pots on coral bottom in about 20 to 30 fathoms, I know I should be looking for little flair ups I just don’t know what i should be looking for on the bottom, what does coral look like and how do I see little holes in the coral. Thanks

Whenever the thickness of the reading increases and then maybe when there is a little fuzz on top. I find it generally pretty hard to find when travelling at speed even though I hold bottom with a clear reading well into the 20knot range unless it is a big flare up. Find most of it when travelling a bit slower not far from known spots. That is with a furuno 627 and p66 so not a big flash whizz bang one.
