SP / Slow Jig Rod

Perhaps very 'uncool' but why wouldn't the old Penn Power Stick rods make a reasonable SP or Slow Jig rod? They are certainly soft enough and from what I've read that is something you want in a SP or Slow Jig rod. Let the ridiculing begin.

Its funny that Jesse Got a Sweet dhu on a crappy rod and reel that most people would ridicule. No reason why a powerstick wouldn't work.

Soft rods are also recommended
for Octo / Lucanus style jigs I think. These style jigs is what I was referring to as slow jigs rather than a knife jigs worked slowly for demersals.

Ha ha
Looking around the room I see this rod (850SS) that I bought many, many years ago that hasn't seen alot of action. With all the recent interest in SPs I thought maybe this is your time.

OK you tackle gurus
I checked out a couple of local tackle shops this morning looking at SP outfits. The Stella 5000SW has some appeal and being a Shimano person I would probably go down that path. What rod would you recommend as a match? I saw a G Loomis Blu Pro that looked OK ........???
