Gday Lads/Ladies, This leave ive decided im going to pack up the cruiser and head to Sharkbay, First stop is the dive shop for a a speargun, float etc. My question is whereabouts would be a good shot for some n/w snapper in fairly shallow water (3-5m) Im only a newbie to this style of fishing so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Shaun

Spangos are pretty hard to
Spangos are pretty hard to spear mate!! If you are new i would suggest you target something a little easier and more accessible(assuming you live in the metro). Skippy are a great first target and are a lot of fun. Just find a shallow reef, burley up and start plugging away :D
One of the best spots for spangos though would have to be Quobba. Try around Black Rock. If you can get the crays then its even better as they taste shcmick and really fires up the spangos!!
Or you could try around Coral Bay at five fingers. Also get some yello-tail emps there as well.
I havent tried many other places but i hear Wagoe is loaded with them as well. Never dived/fished there before though.

Have a dive flag with you
a guy spearfishing in one of the bays out near steep point was killed a couple of years ago by a high speed rib in shallow water.

just be careful spearing
just be careful spearing spangos in coral bay as between red bluff (nth of quobba) and just south of exmouth your only allowed to shoot pelagics and trevally.
trout, cod, baldies, spanglies are all off the menu as far i was concerned....worth a look.
as someone before said, spanglies are the ghosts, hard to spot and harder to shoot. id be burleying up and trying to target cod or baldies.....if you can get your hands on some crabs or cray legs or anything crustacean baldies just get into a frenzy for em.
ive never dived SB but living north of there im sure you should get into something. just hunt the shallow ledges
