Spindrift Dinghy Fitout

Gday

Thought i'd follow on from brenz's recent project boat forum post and throw up a couple of pics of a recent project i started on the weekend... My project being a fair bit easier work as i bought the hull from finn kayaks, was in good condition to begin with and ready to customize from the get go.

So here's the dinghy... bought it as a factory second and came with the ali rowing oars, folding anchor with rope and paperwork to register it. Found a brand new 2.5hp suzuki outboard on Gumtree whisper quiet to idle it along those snags in the swan... and best bit is its light enough (55kg) to launch by myself ;)

Got it registered and started the fitout on the weekend just past. Here's the progress pic...

All thats left to do is chuck the rego stickers on and fix my old furuno sounder/ airmar transducer combo that i recently upgraded on the big tub to it. Might chuck a bit of carpet to the inside if i have enought time too.

Costs for those thinking it could be a viable option if looking at getting a fishing kayak or similar.

- Finn 3m spindrift dinghy $800

- Suzuki 2.5hp 4 stroke Outboard $750

- New Vessel Registration $115

Extras obviously arent necessary but another $500 would get it decked out really blingy lol.

Ill try post more pics once its finished and maybe a vid of it in action once its on the water.

Hope this gives a few people ideas to have a crack at something similar.

Cheers Rob
