The actual spec sheet "claims" it has 15kg.
But if you only have 7kg and there is no assembly fault, pretty sure you won't get 15kg even with a drag upgrade.
I was under the impression that the spinfishers used HT100 drag washers which are already carbon fiber. So I don't think changing to carbonex would make a huge difference unless the carbonex upgrade changes the drag surface area somehow.
wont be a problem, you can always slow the spool with your hand too when they are running hard, Depending on rod your using maybe drop back to 50lb and get even more capacity if your worried.
Land Based shark fishing is easily done on 50lb ........ that's a drag pressure of 20lb. Rigs idea of hand spooling is a good one.
The SSM (and many other Penns) use HT100 drag material. The drag washers are relative big and more than adequate for the reel. HT 100 is a carbon fiber material.
Perhaps a very gentle (no bending pressure at all) clean of the drag washers is what's required. Use only white spirits (from Bunnings) to clean the components.
If you want the drag system given a bit of a rev up, then perhaps consider applying drag grease to the washers. You would need to source the drag grease (I used a USA one Cals Drag Grease) your local tackle shop will be able to guide you a bit. The grease should be very sparingly applied. Wipe it one with your fingers, very thinly smear over and wipe off with a cloth. That will leave enough grease behind for the system.
Greased drag systems exhibit lower start up pressures and higher drag settings before the drag stops and starts.
Good luck with your fishing. Be careful, 80lb braid is somewhat dangerous.

15lb drag is more than enough for a shark of 2m, I was reading an article about shark fishing off the south coast landbased
and they use a 4kg drag 50lb braid (600m) and usually the first run of a big bronzie was about 400m.

+1 for Cals drag grease (not exactly cheap but you can get it in very small amounts and don't need much (making it relatively cheap)
