Spot Pingers
Submitted by jarradb on Thu, 2013-02-21 16:35
was out on a mark today and after the 2nd time over it got a small pinkie and while releasing it with release weight had this wa*#er come up behind us, Ping my spot and fish it so we couldn't get on it so we moved on.
Peoplelike this should be shot! I've done the hard hrs getting my marks and when people are to lazy to do it them self they need to lean some respect or have some one like myself teach them when we see them back at the ramp but lucky we didn't come back across them. Thought i would post a pic so if u see this wa*#er you know what t to expect! !

That is what I do 99% of the time, but this one snuck up on me and by time I saw him and drifted off in neutral but it was too late.
West coast, you must obviousley be the driver or decky in the pic? If not,IN MY OPINION your no different and prob fish with the same plan of pinging spots!!

Say hello
When i'm back on the water, give me a wave and come over to say hello. Bring back the good old days when you were allowed to talk to other fisho's without getting a sinker in the head.
PS: i'm not saying what the boat in question did was right, but maby if he said hello on arival and asked (whats up mate) he might of got a beter response and even some help in his search for some fish .

You boaties make me LoL, when someone is on "your spot " with LB fishing now that is frustrating, no motoring away to the next spot.

Same on shore
Wait until you are fishing miles from anywhere and another vehicle pulls up and they set up along side you and start fishing the same hole, have had it happen many times.
Thats when you need two or three rods and your casting accuracy starts to fail, like tossing a rig over their line and making sure it tangles up properly, drop the lot in the sand for them to untangle then pick up another rod and start fishing again, repeat as often is necessary.

Yeah I see what you are
Yeah I see what you are saying, that would piss me off as well. I always keep my braid scissors handy myself just incase someone casts over the top of me on the jetty, had to cut ppls lines several times, they don't cast over you after that.

If people are seriously fed
If people are seriously fed up with fishers who rudely come up and fish ontop of them and really want to name and shame them, start your own facebook page(if you are on facebook?) and spread the word.
Something like these
http://www.facebook.com/pages/getting_started?page_id=493325034046712#!/pages/Idiot-Drivers-of-Australia/200463433299314
or
http://www.facebook.com/NameAndShameBadDriversOfWesternAustralia
Though as others have said seeing that you can never confirm or deny 100% if someone is an actual pinger, instead maybe have it that people can post up pics and info showing boats/cars/fishers who are rude and fish on top of you instead of showing a bit of courtesy and fishing away a bit?

getting close
well after reading all the previous posts I've come to a conclusion.. if theres a boat anywhere *near*
where i'm going, i'll pass by giving a wide berth.
If i'm anchored and a boat comes close, I'll pull up and leave.
I used to wave to other boats as they cruised past, or as I passed them by, now i'll just keep my head
down incase it's taken as an aggressive gesture.
I'm too old and fat for the aggro some people are talking about, and I'm
not going to provoke anyone.
If anyone sneaks up on me while i'm dozing (fishing) at anchor, the only
thing you'll prolly get is offered a beer or cool drink (never my coffee)
Cheers
Paul

Human nature to the inconsiderate
Ever caught a decent fish on a busy Jetty somewhere filled with fishing novices (and some more experience I could imagine also) Same Same, you will just about get pushed in as they start fishing over you...
Just imagine if we had the same gun laws as America, - might ease the congestion on these lumps....Just say'n

I'm open to being pinged. Go
I'm open to being pinged.
Go for it, you wont catch anything though, not one of my spots has produced anything yet.
Happy for the company though.
