Start to AIBT in Exxy
Submitted by Muppet on Tue, 2011-03-15 12:41
0730 hrs all boats lined up outside the marine with Police vessel 'Delphinius' keeping the line. Start was made by a red parachute flare and then it was on. Looked excellent although being a bit choppy.
Some of the smaller boats then returned to the marina to pull out and go launch elsewhere. Now i'm jealous, Bastards !!

yeah we went down for a look
yeah we went down for a look too, there was a fair bit of spray being thrown around by the leaders as they belted north. Be interesting to hear what happened at the weigh in today.
You sure see how the other half live with some of the boats that went out.

Looks awesome.
Cant wait to get up there!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

That big cat in the first picture was absolutely flogging it out to the rigs, must have been doing 35 knots through the chop, awesome boat!

30 blacks, 3 blues and 11
30 blacks, 3 blues and 11 sails tagged from 130 something raised and 80 something hooked.
Not bad but 8 hours per boast x sixty boats equals I guess what some would call a average day.
Most blacks sounded small.

I heard that a few of them were very small
if so it may confirm what a few of us have thought over the years. We are of the thought that there is a breeding area somewhere between Exmouth and Port headland.A lot of smaller fish have been coming through and a few of you that live in The big K will know of the boom in little bills from last year. All in all a good sign i would say.
I would say it was an average day given the calibre of the crews competing.Running at just over 50% hook up to tag ratio.Sounds like the fish are to small for the hooks or they arent hitting the lure or bait hard enough.I think i can honestly say that it wont be because the hooks havent been sharpened.

i saw a vicious rumour or
i saw a vicious rumour or team Lastchace from K-City hooking what they believed to be according to his wife a 700lb marlin today and was lost boatside as their gear wasn't big enough. Great to see as Damo's target was a 300lb fish for the comp. not bad for a bunch of guys off a 7.5m boat. to be confirmed mind you but you have to believe the mrs. Their biggest reel was a tiagra 50 with 24kg loaded up all stand up too.
i wish my mrs was so proud and supportive of my addiction, Dasiy i shotgun a spot for 2012!

Jeffo and Team Deepwater were
Jeffo and Team Deepwater were runners up Champion Sailfish too
It was a good turn out and the club was pretty packed tonight, not sure of the biggest but a fish of 300kg popped the leader after over 4 hours yesterday apparently.
Also heard a 180kg blue on 15kg tagged today which was a awesome effort.
