Stickbait Stickface

Nice sailfish caught on a stickbait on a sea mount 25nm north west of Bougainville in June 2014.
Gear used was a Temple Reef 711, Stella 10K, PE5, and a Shimano Orca.

Not often but not out of the question. Last year I saw a sail free swimming and had a shot at with the same lure, it grabbed it but pulled the hooks after a couple of jumps.
This one came from a blind cast at a baitball, I didn't know a sail was there untill it took the lure.

We sometimes troll one out in shotgun at Exxy just for laughs and get plenty of sails hitting it

Maybe because the rod is a PE10 711 Reefer, for the record the line is Varivas GT PE5 77lb. Not an ideal combo but a good allrounder to take on a trip where you are limited on how much gear you can bring. This is Bougainville, there are no fancy charter boats loaded with blinged out fishing tackle.
