Storing Rods

Gday I am re'organizing my shed and have moved my fishing rods and was wondering if there is a better way to store them so they don't get damaged and it dosent take up too much space.I have a row of those rubber racks that you push your rod into and they stand up against the wall.

Just curious as to how everyone else stores their fishing rods

well i have 4 good rods that i want to keep in great nic!

the 2 best ones i put in a rod sock (nylon) and into a travel tube with the other 2 rods. i then seal both ends (in my case i have a zip) and there you have it protected rods!

I got some plastic covered

Wed, 2010-06-02 14:16

I got some plastic covered hooks from Bunnings and riveted them to the wall as I don't have much floor space. Two hooks hold two rods each. You can fit them all pretty close to each other so one wall can hold a fair few rods.

I've got the Okuma ones but not overly happy with them, might look at making something down in the workshop some time soon.

Cheers

Okuma stand

Wed, 2010-06-02 17:34

I haven't found the okuma stand too troublesome as long as you split it in half & screw to wall.

I know the rubber ones your talking about but be careful that you don't want to store anything too big, my boat rod and my beach rod are too big to fit in the rubber on the top holder

Bit late

But here's how my setup works...

and a close up of the hooks

You need to keep the hooks reasonably close together otherwise the rods will bow because of the weight in the middle.

Ask for one off the tackle shop floor.

Fri, 2010-06-04 08:34

i got one of these to hold all my smaller rods from 6' to the 8' lengths inside my store room...

You

can get them off the tackle shop floor if they are willing to sell you one Wink i believe theyre not made anymore.

the berkley rod holders attached to the garage wall hold all the longer 10' and 12' rods. Works fine for me.
